Course description
The course includes a combination of lectures and practical sessions to cover the basics in Unix and how to work in the command line. The exercises focus on handling genomic data. No prior knowledge is required.
The course will be given in English. Participants are required to bring their own computer with the corresponding administrator rights.
This course is a pre-requisite to take the course Analysis of Next Generation Sequencing Data.
Requirements and Selection
Entry requirements
The course is open for PhD students accepted by a Swedish or international university, in need to process and manage biological data.
In order to apply for the course, you should have:
A background in genetics, cell biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, bioinformatics or similar.
Selection
Selection is performed according to the following:
- PhD students at Sahlgrenska Academy,
- PhD students enrolled at another university within a formal collaborative agreement on doctoral education with Sahlgrenska Academy,
- PhD students enrolled at another faculty at the University of Gothenburg or another university in Sweden,
- PhD students enrolled at a university outside Sweden.
