Course description
This course offers in-depth knowledge about well-established theoretical approaches to the study of second language acquisition from psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic perspectives. The course focuses on biological, psychologial and cognitive aspects as well as social and cultural factors and their role for second language acquisition in both formal and informal contexts for learners of different age groups. Particular emphasis is put on developmental patterns and variability in the processes of learning a second language. The course aims to develop both theoretical and methodological skills.
Requirements and Selection
Entry requirements
Entry to the course requires that the student pursues doctoral studies in languages and linguistics or a related subject.
Selection
Primarily doctoral students admitted to the department of the Swedish language and secondarily the remaining qualified applicants.
